In The Arena With A Coca-Cola

The Super Bowl commercial I liked the most (2007) was this one:

There were some commercials that were funnier but this coke ad was still my favorite.

The sentiment of the ad is right on target even if the question isn’t quite right. In my later years I don’t want to be asking “What else haven’t I done?” so much as “What else could God have done through me if I had been willing to take the risk?”

One of the sweet things about my experience as a Church Planting Pastor is that I don’t for one moment regret blazing into God’s call for me and stepping out into the adventure of following Him. I can sleep well at night knowing that I obeyed and jumped.

Teddy Roosevelt once said:

“It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who have never known neither victory nor defeat.”

Yeah. That’s what I’m talkin’ about.

So what’s God calling you to do?

… And what are you waiting for?

A coke?

Come on…

Get up…

The dust is flying and the arena awaits…
